Software Engineer (MANUFACTURING / ROBOTICS)

You will have a mix of systems programming experience and knowledge of 2D/3D computer graphics or/and image processing algorithms. You will be the architect of our digital manufacturing client/server architecture that handles print data generation, queues and monitors print jobs, efficiently schedules the manufacturing process and provides high-level choreography for the movement of all of the modules within our manufacturing platform. Your software will interact with both our front-end design tools and the back-end firmware embedded in our manufacturing platform.

Duties:

  • Architect a scalable architecture for managing a modular hardware system
  • Implement process controls and schedule all steps of the manufacturing process
  • Implement and maintain the print data pipeline
  • Closely collaborate with our design tool engineer to develop an appropriate print data interface
  • Closely collaborate with our firmware engineer to develop the print server to firmware interface

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of commercial-grade software engineering experience
  • Can understand relevant academic papers and translate algorithms to practical implementations
  • Solid understanding of computer architectures, design patterns and principles
  • Substantial systems and parallel programming experience
  • Skilled practitioner of agile development methodologies
  • Expert C++ programming skills
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Proficiency in Qt or similar UI frameworks
  • Proficiency in OpenGL/DX, OpenCL/CUDA or other 3D graphics and compute APIs
  • Comfortable in a Linux environment
  • Proven track record of developing robust code using modern software practices, including revision control, continuous integration builds, peer-reviewed commits, etc.

Bonus Skills:

  • 2D/3D graphics or image processing experience (volumetric modeling and rendering)
  • Programming experience in both Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience with ink jet printing
